CrowdGrader
What is CrowdGrader
CrowdGrader is an online peer review tool that allows for peer assessment and feedback on submitted work.
What is the purpose of CrowdGrader
CrowdGrader supports instructors in conducting a peer review assignment by semi-automating the submission of student work and the allocation of classmates as peer reviewers.
How to use CrowdGrader
An instructor begins by setting up an account and creating an assignment - including settings for submitting student work and the creation of grading rubrics. After an assignment is created, the instructor can then specify the class roster or students can auto-enroll through a course-specific hyperlink. Note that CrowdGrader uses Google for authentication, and so all users - instructor and student - must use a previously created Google account login to access CrowdGrader.
Students submit their work to CrowdGrader and, upon a deadline, the review process begins. Students can see which reviews they need to do from their own profiles. Reviews are conducted anonymously. For each assignment, students need to complete the minimum number of reviews as specified by their instructor. CrowdGrader calculates each student’s mark by consensus-based grading that takes an average of the total scores granted through review. Instructors can track class completion of the review process through their account.
Beyond class sizes of 10 students or less, GrowdGrader works on a fee structure. Student-supported fees are discouraged at Western, particularly if the peer review component of the assignment is mandatory.
